In response to increased identity theft incidents and security breaches, major credit card companies have collaborated to create the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard (DSS), which is a series of requirements to streamline and standardize how companies store and access credit card information.
The Cisco ACE Web Application Firewall helps organizations that store, process, and transmit credit card data to comply with the PCI DSS requirements. Because of its unique blend of HTML and XML security, the Cisco ACE Web Application Firewall provides a full compliance solution for the PCI DSS version 1.1's requirements in sections 6.5 and 6.6.
Section 6.6 in particular mandates that any organization handling, processing, or storing credit card information must install a Web application firewall by June 30, 2008 to protect applications against the OWASP Top 10 attacks (http://www.owasp.org/index.php/Top_10_2007.)
The Cisco ACE Web Application Firewall provides full compliance with the latest's PCI requirements by securing and protecting Web applications from common attacks, such as:

Intuitive, powerful, and secure, the Cisco ASA 5500 IPS solution provides market-leading firewall, IPS, and VPN in a single integrated appliance. Cisco IPS greatly enhances firewall security and protects against over 30,000 threats. The IPS capabilities of Cisco ASA 5500 Series are uniquely hardware accelerated, so turning on IPS does not impact the host firewall or VPN throughput. Management is simple with easy-to-use Cisco IPS Manager Express (IME). These models listed above are positioned for SMBs, mid-market and branch offices.
Driven by increasing compliance mandates (PCI, HIPAA, FFIEC) and growing customer security awareness and demand, the Cisco ASA 55500 IPS solution has experienced tremendous growth the last few years. These new lower prices and easy-to-order bundles make it easier for customers to save money, meet ever-increasing compliance requirements and keep threats out, company data in.

Tech Target's article "Introduction to the benefits of NAC" published today.
Read it here: NAC Article
It turned out to be much more of an introduction than we are used to, but sometimes we have been known to assume readers want more technical information from the start, but we'd like to know what you think.
I was interviewed today as a subject matter expert for an upcoming NAC online mini-series.
Cisco's NAC solution allows organizations to enforce security policies for endpoints connecting to the network. The NAC appliance determines if the endpoint meets the requirements for software firewall, antivirus and patch levels. Endpoints that meet the established criteria are allowed access to the network, where endpoints that do not meet the requirements are placed on remediation network, where they can be brought up to compliance for access to the network.
It was good to talk about some of the lesser known components of Cisco's NAC line, such as the NAC Guest Server. The Cisco NAC Network Module makes NAC available to the SMB market. You can find out more about Cisco's NAC solutions at www.cisco.com/go/nac
